Hataw Beauties Medal Awards (Part 3 of 3)

Hataw Beauties Medal Awards 2008 is my personal tribute to the people and beauties who shaped the Pageant world of 2008 and made it an exciting ride at every twist and turn.

Nominees and winners from different categories - from gowns to costumes, and from faces to dresses - are my own personal choices.

These, in my opinion, are the people and events that have defined beauty pageants of 2008 at its best.

The Big4 Pageants deserve applause for bringing the best and the greatest in beauty pageants year after year..

The Philippines has always been a perfect venue for beauty pageants simply because the Filipinos love everything about beauty pageants. If you've seen the last part of the pageant telecast of Miss Earth 2008, you've seen the beautiful smiles, the dances and the joys that reflects among the candidates.

Miss Universe's overall production in 2008 was commendable. Miss Earth needs to be more polished. Miss International was better and original. The disappointment was with Miss World, it was dull and boring.

Bronze Award: Miss World

Nominees:

1. Miss Universe
2. Miss International
3. Miss Earth
4. Miss World

Lady Gaga's Just Dance was lively and indeed perfect for a swimsuit round in Miss Universe. In Miss World, McFly's number was better than that of Alesha.

Runners Up:

Silver Award: McFly (Miss World)
Bronze: Alesha Dixon (Miss World)

Nominees:

1. Lady GaGa, "Just Dance" (Miss Universe)
2. McFly "Lies" (Miss World)
3. Alesha Dixon "The Boy Does Nothing" (Miss World)

Miss Universe's stage design is always a reflection of the colorful culture of its host country. Miss Earth was predictable..it deserves better stage design, something that is worthy for international audience. Miss World's stage design in Johannesburg was simple, the designs in 2005-2008 were better. On the other hand, Miss International has produced an standout and unique stage design in Macau, something worthy for this award.

Runners Up:

Silver Award: Miss Universe
Bronze Award: Miss Earth & Miss World

Nominees:

1. Miss Universe
2. Miss International
3. Miss Earth
4. Miss World

Miss World has attracted the most number of standout beauties in 2008 but the pageant telecast was quite boring for me. Miss International's final telecast was better compared to its previous telecasts, but the pageant should give us more excitement when it comes to pre-final activities. Miss Earth is already up there in terms of quality, but the pageant can still be better. Miss Universe may not be perfect, but it's the pageant of 2008 that gave me the most excitement: the national costume competition, the swimsuit competition, the presentation show, the interviews in the official website and the finals night.
